BOARDING AND DINING FACILITIES AT LECHWE SCHOOL
Lechwe school boast of excellent boarding and dining facilities just as
much as it boasts of outstanding academic standards.
Catering Facilities
Mrs Camilla Howard, an external and
private
caterer, provides catering to the boarders. The service is outsourced by
the school.
BOARDING FACILITIES
We have two boarding hostels:

Marquesia hostel - this is the boys'
hostel and is situated about 300 meters off the school campus, in a
well-secured area. Pupils are driven to and from school for lessons
and dinner by their housemaster, Mr. Thomas Kumwenda.

Baobab hostel - this is a girls'
hostel located within the Lechwe campus. Ms. Mary Phiri the
housemother.

Baobab hostel for girls
Each hostel has a full time house parent
who lives in the same premises. He/She ensures the smooth running of the
hostel routines.
The hostel has two dormitories, one for juniors (Forms 1 and 2), and
another for seniors (Forms 3 - 6)
Junior dormitory
This has five beds and two study benches in it, and it has a common room
for students to relax in. it has bathroom and shower facilities with
separate toilets.
The Senior dormitory
The set up in this dormitory is much the same as that of the junior one,
except that it is divided onto four rooms, two of them having three bunk
beds and one having only one bunk bed. Every room is equipped with study
tables and there is also a study room.
Other facilities
The hostel has a common room with a television, video and M-Net decoder.
These facilities are mainly used at the weekends.
The hostel has its own laundry and staff employed to wash and iron the
boarders' clothes and clean the dormitories. However, the pupils are
expected to help by making their beds and keeping the dormitories tidy.
The hostel has beautiful surroundings, which are maintained by a
gardener.
The Girls Hostel- Baobab
The Girls' hostel, named 'Baobab', is situated on the school campus. It
is in a modern building and can be descried as a beautiful, peaceful and
quiet place. Just like the boys' hostel, it is subdivided into two
sections; one for junior pupils and the other for senior pupils.
The boarding parents live within the hostel building.
Rooms
Senior dormitories accommodate two girls, whereas the junior ones can
accommodate four to six girls. There is also a study room, which is used
for prep.
Laundry
The laundry is done everyday by the maids whose duties include the
cleaning of the rooms and ensuring that the place is tidy and hygienic.
Entertainment
The hostel has a games room equipped with a video and DS TV facilities.
This is mainly used at weekends.
Weekends
On Saturdays, a school bus is laid on for those interested in doing some
shopping.
On Sundays, form time to time an outing is organized by the teacher on
duty. This could be in the form of a picnic or a visit to a place of
interest.
Medical facilities
The school nurse is on call 24 hours a day in case of emergency. She
attends to less serious cases at the school clinic and refers the more
serious ones to the bigger clinics or hospitals.
